Review of Brno Bal77 77mm White Balance Lens Cap with Neutral and Warm Domes

I purchased this for my Canon 5D and even at the price its one of my better purchases.I just snap a picture with the cap on then use that as a ref photo for my custom white balance adjustment. Fast and easy.

As a side benifit its a better lens cap than the Canon cap that comes with the 24-105 L lens.The grips are in the center which makes it very easy to get on and off with the lens hood in place.

Pleas note that it also comes with a warmer dome that you can use to give your portrate shots a slightly warmer tone.

Installation:

*Rotate lock-ring to expose the thread’s mounting thread*Attach the hood by screwing it on the filter or lens thread.*Rotate lock-ring back to fix the hood on the thread.*While fixating the hood with the lock-ring, keep the ” ” symbol on the hood exactly at 12 o’clock position for the correct perpendicular orientation of the higher sides of the hood.

Review of Delkin Devices DD/AA-4PK-R29 Extended Power Rechargeable AA Batteries

I bought two 4-packs of these Delkin AA NiMH batteries based on their claimed capacity of 2900 mAh. As soon as I received them I charged them up using a pair of LaCrosse BC-900 battery chargers in TEST mode. According to the battery charger LCD screens, none of these Delkin batteries would charge up more than about 2050 mAh. I contacted the company I bought them from about their lack of stated capacity, and they replied that NiMH batteries need to be drained and recharged several times before they develop their full capacity.

I have since drained each set of four AA batteries in my digital camera and recharged them several times.I saw an increased capacity in most of the Delkin AA batteries up to around 2350 mAh.But there’s at least one AA in each four-pack that gradually loses its ability to accept a charge.I have now had to return two of the eight Delkins for replacement.Kudoes to the company for promptly replacing the defective ones, but I’m chagrined that defective Delkin NiMH AAs would be so common.With a failure rate of 25%, I won’t be buying any more Delkin products.

Review of Opteka 58mm Screw Mount Flower / Petal Shaped Lens Hood with Lock

I’m sure some people are satisfied with this lens hood, but personally, I think you should spend the extra money and get the real Canon one that attaches via the quick release notches instead of screwing into the front of the lens or lens filter. With this one, it’s kind of a pain to put on and take off since the threads on the lens or filter are very fine and you can’t rush it or you might mess up the threading. I’m also not too impressed with the cheap feeling plastic material it is made out of.

Review of Delkin Devices DD/DUC BP511-US Dual Universal Charger Package with 2 Plates for Canon BP51

I purchased the Delkin charger with plates for BP511 and AA batteries.I use the charger when traveling with several devices so I can charge using one charger.The charger works as advertised with no problems.The only complaint I have is Delkin does not seem to be adding new plates for new model camera batteries such as the Canon XSI and the 5D MARK 11.Overall I am happy with my purchase and will buy more plates when and if ordered.If Delkin does not add new plates this will end up in the trash.

Review of Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce for the Achiever 260AF/T, Contax TLA280, 360, Metz 40MZ-2, 54MZ-3, Minolta 5200I, 5400HS, 5400XI, Nikon SB-24, 25 & 26, Olympus FL40, G40, Pentax AF500FTZ and Sunpak 2000DZ, 266D & MZ440AF Flashes.

I have two Nikon SB-26′s and one Sunpak Super 383 Flash that I use in my Real Estate Photography business.I purchased Sto-Fen diffusers for all of them and have been pleased.They are made with very durable plastic and fit the respective flashes like a glove and don’t fall off.

I always describe the light quality with the Sto-Fen installed as “creamy”, especially as compared to the hard light coming from the unmodified flash.

For what they are, the price is a bit high.I bought three Slik Tripod with 3-Way Panhead to use as light stands and they were only two bucks more than these diffusers.

TIP: Before buying the Sto-Fens I used the bottom half of a rubbing alcohol bottle as a diffuser on the 383.The light quality was just as good if not a bit better.It’s not as professional though, so I went with the Sto-Fen.
