I thought I was just being frisky on buying a protective screen for my LCD. When I got the item, I thought it wouldn’t really be contoured fit for my SD450. But lo and behold, this product really was perfect for my camera. It was easy to apply on the camera and easy to take off also (I had to place it back on and take it out several times until I got the perfect placement.). And my camera looks unique and more elegant with this protector. I love my camera and I love that I got the protector for it.

I bought the Giotto’s LCD screen protector for my Pentax K10D DSLR after first using a PDA screen protector film. The film ruining the image quality on the screen, smudged easily and in general made my LCD screen virtually useless. I thought the price of the Giotto’s screen protector was a bit steep but, decided to give it a go anyways and am I glad I did! The difference it night and day, the screen is brighter and clearer now and better protected than before. If you can live with the price this is a greatitem to have.

The screw locking ring on this hood enables you to use a polarizing filter on the lens. The Canon shade, a bayonet, makes turning a polarizer almost impossible. The Canon probably is a better shade — double the depth of this one, but not if you want handy use of a polarizer.

Review of Vanguard Tourist 5 Ultra-Compact Full-Size Tripod with One-Handle Panhead

This is a great tripod that does pretty much everything you could ask from something that is so reasonably priced. That being said, the tripod may seem deficient when unfairly compared to bulkier and more upscale versions. I’m putting up a list of both pros and cons so that more discerning shoppers can pick and choose from the higher end models. Sure, there are cons, but most of the cons listed are by design; you cannot expect to be all things to all people while still creating a lightweight and compact tripod, although this item gets very close.

Pros:
-Exceptional value for money
-Extremely compact; will fit easily into any small pack or even a larger-sized purse.
-Quality carrying bag (mentioned in a previous review)
-Item arrives fully lubricated (functionally, not excessively), which makes for quick and smooth use of all functions.
-Lockable axes allow for accurate horizontal-and/or vertical-only panning, as well as rotating the camera to shoot at different angles (most likely between portrait and landscape).
-Quick release shoe allows you to mount a small attachment to the bottom of your camera and then mount/dismount from the tripod with the quick flip of a lever.
-When fully extended, I can still comfortably take pictures while standing and bending over slightly (I stand 5’10″).

Cons:
-This tripod is not recommended for rough ground or use as a jungle gym. The emphases placed on being lightweight and compact requires the inevitable sacrifice of strength and durability. If you are rough or careless with your equipment, this is not the tripod for you.
-The nature of the legs (similar to the extendable chrome antenna you might find on a boom box, with passive locking mechanism) is such that it’s difficult to set mid-range height settings that you might want if, say, you were taking pictures from a sitting or crouching position. The tripod works very well in the fully-extended or fully compacted setting.
-This unit does lack a bubble level. I won’t miss the level at all, though, as I never require that my tripod be precisely level.
-The other noticeable sacrifice made for value and reduced weight comes in the tripod head. Unlike the heavier duty, more upscale tripods, the panning motion is slightly more rough and/or uneven. The bearings and materials in more upscale tripods make it much easier to do slow, controlled pans, similar to those seen in movies. However, this should only be a problem for people who would use a video camera with this tripod. Still photographers needn’t worry.

Review of Tamron Autofocus 28-200mm f/3.8-5.6 XR Aspherical (IF) Lens for Minolta and Sony Digital SLR Cameras (Black)

If you are looking for a decent walkaround that does 95% of the ranges, andhate lugging loads of lens with kids for zoo trips or travel, this will be perfect. Folds to a amazing skinny size that is even smaller than the Sony Kit lens! Big PLus- Pictures actually turned out better than the kit lenses after some workouts.

I did some research before buying this lens and read about the struggling at 200mm. I verify it does struggles, but not something as unbearable as some made it out to be. Maybe we are more impatient in this age, and cannot tolerate a delay of a split a second. If you can bear with your 70-300, this will not be an issue for you.

However, please note that although it says F3.8, your camera will show maximum of F4.0.. According to the Tamron Customer Service, this is inherent for Sony Cameras only; so don’t be alarmed..

Sans the prime lenses and CZ, this’s gotta be the best purchase I’ve made. And it is dirt cheap (<150)!! I’ll highly recommend to novice and pros. Try it and you’ll soon dump your kits like I did!!

This back pack is perfect for dslrs with minimal gear. i can carry my nikon d80 with 18-200mm lens on it plus room for my flash and one other lens. If i move things around I could carry another lens. I also have the accessory kit sqeezed in there and it is a bit snug. I have used the kit a few times and it does come in handy.

When carrying the back pack on my back and the front clip secured it fits very comfortably and off my back so hiking and other walking is very comfortable. there are straps that you can get for it to attach the tripod to it but i have not done this yet.

The upper compartment of the back pack is ok if you want to carry something such as a lunch or towel and there is a compartment that can hold my filters and such. It all works but is a bit awkward….I guess I’m still searching for the perfect bag but I have not found it yet…. I’m out growing this one…If you plan to add equipment you may want to think about getting something bigger….

This kit comes with a tripod but the tripod they supply is not suitable for dslrs. it may work if you never get past your kit lens if it is no bigger than 55mm but I had to purchase another tripod that was able to handle the weight and that has a ball head.

All in all this is a nice product and well made. I would recommend this to someone who had minimal gear…
